On August 1st we observed World Scout Day, commemorating the founding of Scouting exactly 111 years ago. On this day, just 335 Adult Members & Supporters of Scouts Australia (NSW Branch) were honoured by the Chief Scout of Australia, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) in the 2018 Adult Recognition Awards.
The recipients of the Adult Recognition Awards were acknowledged for their “good service & commitment to Scouting”, both within and beyond their roles and responsibilities as active Leaders, Members or Supporters.
We would like to congratulate one of our own, Trevor Phillip Ward OAM “One Tonner” who was presented with the Silver Kangaroo, for eminent achievement & exceptional service over a long period for a highly valued contribution to the wellbeing of Scouting. This is the highest award for adult leaders in Scouts Australia.
One Tonner has been with 1st East Ryde Scouts for just over 40 years and is passionate about our group and helping to shape the character and values of our young people. He has been a leader in every section, except Rovers and more recently as Group Leader.
From all of the families & leaders at 1st East Ryde Scouts, a big congratulations One Tonner, on this wonderful acknowledgement & achievement.
