Games/Craft Information:

Rain and Sun

One joey is the sun, the other the rain.  They have a yellow and blue wand each.  Joeys run around and if they gets tagged by the sun the dry up and curl up in a ball.  The blue rain joey has to save them and tag them with his blue wand so they are free to run around again.  The sun also has to try and catch the rain and dry him up – then the wands change to two new joeys

Blue Sea, Blue sky

Joeys scouts ar ein two lines about 1 metre apart down the centre of the hall.  One team is blue sky the other blue sea.  If the leader calls Blue sea, that team turns to run the the wall being chased by the blue sky team.  The wall is safe.  Call blue sky they have to run and chase the other team to their safe wall.

Craft science

Making a kite– finish colouring in the kite and fold as per the lines.  Attach a skewer or straw and a tail of streamers.  Add string and you’re done.  Keep the string quite short as we will be flying in the hall!

Cloud in a bottle–….

Battleship– or avoid the rain clouds if we need a fill in game

Kite safety and flying

Check for overhead lines and trees

Are you near a cliff, river bank or road?

Is there a storm coming?

Watch out for other joeys – run in the same direction!!

Clouds across the sky

Two teams and two tables – split the joey teams either side of their table.  Using a straw they must blow the cloud (cotton ball) across the table to the joey the other side who blows it back to the next joey and thus down the table

Sun rises in the East….

Start by explaining that the sun rises in the East – which way is East? And it moves slowly across the sky and sets in the West – which way is West?  North is the side that gets most sun during the day and the South gets the least.  Show the compass pints painted on the floor and play NSEW!!!
