Stop Running
While the music Joeys run or skip around. When the music stops call out an instrument – violin (pretend to play a violin), cello, harp, guitar.
Conductors coming!
Signs on walls for cello, violin, harp, guitar.
When the following are called, Joey Scouts are to carry out appropriate actions:
Cello – Run to front of boat
Violin – Run to right side
Harp – Run to left side
Guitar – Run to back
Conductor’s coming – stand and clap
Violin solo – everyone yawn and look bored
Drummers gone mental – play the drums
Lulled to sleep – everyone lie down and snore
Recognise the sound?
Joeys in 3 teams - Play different string instrument sounds. Joeys have to find the picture of the instrument they think they hear. Team effort. Put the picture next to the number corresponding ot the bit of music.
Tight-rope (well string!) relay
Two teams - Each Joey must walk the tight-rope holding a spoon in each hand with a newspaper ball on each. Drop the ball or fall off the rope and you go back to your team. Drop the balls in the bucket when you get to the end of the string.
String Relay.
Tie lollies onto string (enough for one per Joey) dangle the lolly on a string form a rope across the hall.
In 3 teams first person in the team runs down and tries to eat the lolly not using their hands. Once done they run back so the next in the team can go. Once all the team have had a lolly they sit down!!
