Games/Craft Information:

Treasure in the sand

Two buckets of sand with treasure buried – two teams, first person runs down to dig for treasure, find something, run back next person goes…

Potting your innards

Using your hands each person in the team must carry a handful of innards down to the Coptic jar - try not to drop any brains!  Why are they scrambled – explain mummification! (made innards from jelly, wool, sago pudding!)

Wrap your mummy

Toilet rolls and volunteers – need to try and let everyone get a go at wrapping!

Hieroglyphics – make a bookmark

Can you write your name in hieroglyphics? Colour in the book mark to take home as a souvenir of your trip to Egypt

Building a Pyramind

Each team has paper cups to build a big pyramid – then you get to try and knock the other teams pyramid down with the newspaper cannon balls.  Try all together building a BIG pyramid – how big can you get?

Whacky story – see below

Spare

Mummy’s coming….. (like captains coming)

Slaves – pretend to pull large blocks along, rope over shoulder, few groans maybe!

Sightseeing – take photos!

Climb the pyramid – pretend to climb

Dig in the sand – digging

We thought our trip to the museum would be boring, but we were wrong. After we handed our ____1____ to ___2___ at the door, we were led into the museum's ___3___. The first things I noticed were the mummy cases against the ___4___. Why were there mummy cases in the ___3___?

While we waited for our guide, ___5___ told us how the pharaohs always placed a large ___6___ in their mummy cases to protect them from intruders. ___7___ and I got a little ___8___ hearing this. There were, after all, ___9___ mummy cases in the room with us.

Suddenly we heard a ___10___ sound coming from inside one of the mummy cases. “___11___!!” ___7___ and I screamed at the same time.

“Nothing to worry about,” said ___5___ calmly. “I'm sure it's just the wind.” Just then one of the mummy cases ___12___ open. Out __13___ an enormous ___6___ covered with ___14___. Just as I was about to run from the room, the ___6___ threw off the ___13___ and howled, “April Fools!” It was ___15___!

We had forgotten that it was April first, but I guess ___5___ and ___15___ had not.
