Coming in– colour in your Monster feet, stick dots on for warts, colour toe nails and stick on fur if you want!!  We will cut out later and wear.

Hopping

3 teams – 1st person hops to the first object picks it up (ON ONE FOOT) and hops back to drop it in the basket.  Next person hops to the next item etc...  Last person has the furthest to hop so you need to work out in each team who is the best and worst hopper!!

Caterpillar

3 teams.  Sit holding the ankles of the person behind you in a “snake” or caterpillar.  One the word first team to cross the line wins.

Pass the bean bag.

Each team have to sit down with legs out in front – they must pass the bean bag from one end of the line to the other without using their hands – feet only!!  Maybe a balloon?

Conveyor belt.

Line all the Joeys head to toe like sardines.  Legs up in the air.  They must pass objects down the line, a hat, ball, basket, paper, tube, rug etc. nothing heavy as it will most likely fall off someone’s legs! – not a race just a bit of fun!

Spare:

Hop, Step and Jump

Each Joey does a hop, step and jump – hop as far on one leg, stop, take one big step and then a standing jump.  Mark the final landing position.  Competition – beat your own best “jump” or grade into 3 even size Joey teams for fairness.

Group activities

  • Foot Cookies – Ice and sprinkles, maybe coloured toe nails?

  • Pin the feet on the Monster – write your name on a foot and take turns to pin on the monster.

Spare game as pin the tail is quick - Joey Scout promise.

When the leader says:

  • I Promise – make the Scout sign.
  • Do My Best – Salute.
  • Love My God – Place hand on heart.
  • Be helpful – Joeys get into pairs and link arms.

  • Finish your feet, cut out and attach string which fits around the ankle – Monster feet are worn OVER the shoes.

Warming up song!

HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES AND TOES

Head and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes

Head and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes

And Eye and ears, and a mouth and a nose

Head and shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes

(Touch the appropriate body part each time it's mentioned.

Second time: don't say the word 'head' aloud, but still touch it.

Ants go Marching

The ants go marching one-by-one Hurrah! Hurrah!

The ants go marching one-by-one Hurrah! Hurrah!

The ants go marching one-by-one

The little one stopped to suck his thumb

And they all went marching

Down, around the town

Boom boom boom

The ants go marching two-by-two...

continue the verses with these changes:

Two-by-two: tie his shoe

Three-by-three: climb a tree

Four-by-four: close the door

Five-by-five: Do a jive

Six-by-six: pick up sticks

Seven-by-seven: go to Heaven

Eight-by-eight: close the gate

Nine-by-nine: check the time

Ten-by-ten: start again

Actions: Whenever you sing "up" stand all the way up. Whenever you sing "down"
crouch down. Whenever you sing "half way" stand a little bit crouched.

The Grand Old Duke of York,

He had ten thousand men.

He marched them UP to the top of the hill and marched them DOWN again.

Now when they were UP, they were UP;

and when they were DOWN, they were DOWN.

And when they were only HALFWAY UP,

they were  neither UP nor DOWN.

(Keep repeating going faster each time)
