Make a train:

Two teams,

First Joey is the engine, they run down the hall around a chair and back to the line and pick up a passenger who must hold on to their waist/shirt and run down with them down the hall and around the chair and back to pick up the next passenger until all passengers are in a long snake/train and have been on the trip down the hall and back.

Guards and passengers:

Joeys in pairs, one holds on behind the other.  Moving in pairs carefully around the hall.  Two Joeys are “in” one is the passenger one the guard who has to catch him.  The passenger runs around trying to catch hold of the back of a train.  When he does the engine in front has to leave and catch another train.  Be careful the person who is “IT” or the guard doesn’t catch you.  If they do you swap and you are “IT” or the guard they become the passenger and catch a train themselves!

Craft:

Colour in the different modes of transport and pin onto the train to make a “Transport” notice board for the term.

Move the Cargo:

Two teams:

Using sleds of cardboard each person in the team has to drag the cargo from one end of the hall to the other and unload it into the box.  Items could include balls, boxes, newspaper bundles, rolls of paper.  Enough items for one per person.

Whistle game:

All the Joeys in a long line holding each other waist.

  • 1 whistle move slowly forward
  • 2 whistles stop
  • 1 looooong whistle front engine runs and joins the back.

If they get that ok....

  • 3 whistle reverse!

Today, if all the world's train tracks were laid out end to end, they'd stretch more than 800,000 miles. That is 32 times around the earth and 3 times to the moon!  Very approx. 25,000 around the earth, 240,000 miles to the moon
