Koalas In Trees

Joey Scouts are divided into threes, with one odd person left over, who is the squirrel. The three form a tree (two people holding hands) and a squirrel (standing in the hollow made by the joined hands). On the word change all squirrels have to change trees and the spare squirrel tries to find a home. After a few turns, trees should get a chance to be squirrels.

Find the Tree in the Forest

The Joey Scouts stand at arm’s length apart and close their eyes..

Both Joey Scouts raise their arms forward with palms up.

With their eyes closed Joeys then drop their arms and turn around three times.

Still with their eyes closed and without talking, each Joey Scout raises their arms again and try to locate another tree by touching palms again.

A Tree Needs

Make up small Joey groups.  “Hide” the cards in plain sight enough for each group, ie 4 groups = 4 sets of cards.  Then read the text and allow the Joeys to collect the required card, Tree, Seed, Water, Soil, Sun, Space.  First group to collect all their cards wins.  MUST be in the order you read, not just a set!

Captains coming – Tree theme

Captains coming game:

  • Tree – stand tall and still with arms out
  • Seed – curl up in a ball
  • Sapling – stand up and wave around
  • Wood chopper – run around screaming
