Liz Savva dresses up as QEIIOn Australia Day this year, sadly one of our East Ryde Joey Leaders, Liz Savva, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer. Her children Zac, James and Aimee, along with her husband Tony, have been members of our Scout group for many years. Aimee is in Scouts and will be moving into the Venturer Unit this year and Zac and James are involved in Rovers. Tony has an active role on our committee and has been involved with all sections of our group over the years.

Liz’s 16 years of service to Scouts began in 2003 when she began her training as a Joey Scout Leader at 1st East Ryde Scout Group, and on completion of her training in 2005 Liz was appointed Assistant Joey Scout Leader at 1st East Ryde.

From 2009 to 2016, Liz performed the role of Joey Scout Leader at 1st East Ryde before taking a step back to her current role of Assistant Joey Scout Leader. In 2018 Liz was awarded her 15 years Long Service Award. Liz’s dedication to the Joey section saw her attend the 5th, 6th & 7th State Konara’s in 2007, 2011 and 2014.

Our thoughts are with Liz’s family and friends, she will be sadly missed.

A fund has been set-up in Liz’s honour for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Liz had a passion for literacy and our youth. If you wish to make a donation please go to https://www.gofundme.com/lizs-literacy-legacy.
